Twitter has launched audio tweets, which will allow users to share an audio clip of up to 140 seconds long.
This feature, initially only available for iOS users, provides content creators with a new way to tell stories, share information and engage with their audience.
Audio tweets will also appear in the standard feed format, therefore making them easy to access.
The new feature will be displayed with your profile picture at the centre image of the voice clip.
A great thing about this tool is that you can still use text within the same tweet, allowing you to feature audio to enhance your message.
Tweets have a character limit of 280 characters and audio clips have been restricted to 140 seconds long (2 minutes, 20 seconds). However, if users to choose to create longer voice clips, these will be shown as a ‘thread’.
We think that this is a fun new addition to Twitters list of features, one which can allow users to engage in an entirely new way on the platform.
Over the coming months it will be interesting to see how many users will be actively using this new tool, or if it will become a flop.
What do you think about this new feature? Will you be adding voice clips to your tweets?
