Facebook has just launched ‘Messenger Rooms’ which will allow users to video chat with all the individuals in the virtual room.
It has also revealed that it will be making this feature available to groups and event pages.
As of today, admins and group members will now be able to create dedicated rooms which will allow group video calls of up to 50 people at one time.
To help admins keep their communities safe, they will also have the ability to allow ‘Messenger Rooms’ within their group, and the control to make their group Rooms “admin only” so members can only join the chat, and not have the capacity to create them.
Alternatively, admins will also have the option to allow any group member to create a room.
This new tool can potentially help groups gain new followers and expand reach as members will be able to share a link to the room with those outside of the group, plus giving them a flavour of the group and discussion.
Although, we anticipate that many admins will choose to be the sole creator of the rooms developed in their group.
Events will also have access to Messenger Rooms, which will now provide users with the additional option of creating an online event.
However, this feature will only be available for private events, but again will add another engagement option for its users.
What do you think about this new feature? Will your Facebook Group be getting on board?
