Would you still use Instagram if they decided to remove the number of likes feature?
Well, you might have to make this decision very soon as Instagram is now testing out this new feature across several different countries.
In place of the numeric likes count (1,307 likes), Instagram has announced that individual photos will now simply say ‘liked by [friends username] and others.’.
While users won’t be able to see the total number of likes that other users photos have, they will still be able to see how many time their own post has been liked. Additionally, users won’t be able to see how many views videos get.
Instagram announced to those who trialled the feature, ‘We want your friends to focus on the photos and videos you share, not how many likes they get. You can still see your own likes by tapping on the list of people who’ve liked it, but your friends will not be able to see how many likes your post has received.’
